Ha! That was my problem. Trust me, you’re better off taking it to a trusted mechanic. DON’T GO TO A DEALERSHIP. They may even decide that something ELSE is wrong with your car. Trust me, it’s a waste of time, money, and your patience. I didn’t win, you may, but like I said, if you want to avoid any kind of headache, PLEASE find a trusted mechanic to look at it. They will save you money, and most likely do a better job.

I didn’t realize so many of us had the same problem. I have a Civic coupe 2006, I travel a lot and have put on a lot of mileage and I am having a weird noise coming from my passenger rear. I found the bulletin and made an appointment with my Honda dealership. I also called Honda Customer Service to ensure that this was being covered under warranty only to have them tell me that it was my responsibility and I was over the mileage. This is BS … first off it’s a manufacterer’s default, so I dont understand why I have to pay for something that is their fault. I am so angry right now. Honda Customer Service said that it depended on the dealership and that maybe I can work something out with them. I took my car in a year after I leased it because the tire was slanting (not sure why) but they did a wheel alignment that I had to pay for and sent me on my way and now again it is slanting and there is a weird humming noise coming from the rear. I am so tired of their run arounds.NEVER AGAIN!

Ok – I have a draft letter ready to go. Some proof reading, etc… and I’m firing it off to an attorney that handles national class action lawsuits. We’ll see what they say.

Yeah, I refinanced over a year ago since Honda likes to charge OUTRAGEOUS interest rates. I went with Fidelity Bank, and they’ve been pretty great. I’m going to be tacking an extra 100 bucks to my car payment a month, and just save until I have enough too pay off the car. I figure tacking that 100 bucks will bring down the payoff amount faster.

I felt the same way – suckered. It’s ok. $500 and my car is better. BUT! Honda will never see another dime from me once this car is paid off. Actually, as soon as I close on my house I’m refinancing with someone other than Honda – probably Capital One who I’ve always liked.

Thanks so much! Congrats to you too, by the way. It’s just so frustrating, so like I said, I just don’t want to bother with it anymore. I’ve actually lost sleep over this, wondering if the purchase I made 3 years ago was a waste of money and if I’ve been suckered. I’d hate to think that, or to think that anyone else is going through this.

Congrats on your wedding. Yeah, don’t give Honda any more of your hard earned money when you have a mechanic you trust. Your posts have prompted me to put together a letter to a class action attorney and see what they think. If I get any positive response – believe me – I’ll be sure to pass that information along.
